Welcome to Winslow, Arizona.

Winslow is a city located in Navajo County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,520. Winslow is located on I-40, approximately 57 miles east of Flagstaff and 35 miles west of Holbrook and lies on the junction of State Route 87. The area in and around Winslow boasts natural beauty, as well as many area attractions.
Located in downtown Winslow is "The Corner", made famous by the song "Take It Easy". Written by Glenn Frey and Jackson Browne, "Take It Easy" became The Eagles first hit single in the 70's, and put Winslow on the map. The verse "Standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona," draws visitors from far and wide to stand on the famous corner. The "Standin' on a Corner" Park is located in historic downtown Winslow and features a life size bronze statue and a two story mural depicting the story behind the famous song.

As the centralized vacation spot of Northern Arizona, Winslow serves as the perfect home base for numerous day trips, as well as some great local attractions, as well. Such magnificent sights as the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest and Homolovi Ruins State Park are just a short drive away.

9-11 REMEMBRANCE GARDENS
Located at the junction of Transcon Lane and Old Route 66 (off I-40 at mile post marker 252, Transcon Lane exit) in East Winslow, this memorial (which is contructed of actual beams that came from the World Trade towers in New York City) pays homage to those who both lost their lives and assisted during the 9-11, 2001 tragedy.

CANYON DE CHELLY NATIONAL MONUMENT
At the base of sheer red cliffs and in canyon wall caves are ruins of Indian villages built between AD 350 and 1300. Canyon de Chelly National Monument offers visitors the chance to learn about Southwestern Indian history from the earliest basketmakers to the Navajo Indians who live and farm there today.

CHOLLA LAKE PARK
Cholla Lake is the largest man-made body of water in northeastern Arizona.

GRAND FALLS
Known to many as "Chocolate Falls" because of its muddy color, this massive waterfall is higher than Niagara Falls, with a vertical relief of 185 feet. The best time to see the falls is after snow melting in early spring and after a summer thunderstorm. The falls are located 48 miles northwest of Winslow.

Truck Fire Causes Delays on I-40

Photo by Jack Vicars A commercial truck fire caused eastbound Interstate 40 near Winslow to be shut down for a short time Tuesday afternoon at around 12:10 p.m. The fire, which fully engulfed the truck, is believed to have been caused by mechanical problems.



Knit-In Draws 29 Knitters From Across No. Arizona

Veteran knitters with over 50 years of experience and beginners with a few months experience worked on a variety of scarves, sweaters, shawls and socks at Northern Arizona's World Wide Knit in Public Day, held at La Posada hotel on June 14.
